July 14. 2016 – An interview with Rose Fiorucci.
From 1981 our Fiorucci Family Italian Restaurant (now Cucina Fiorucci) was located on Walter Road, Bedford across the road from the now closed Barron motors which is where Frasers Motorcycle’s now sits.
Fiorucci’s was run by my husband, Perth Renowned Chef Guy Fiorucci, myself (Rose) and family. Cucina Fiorucci is family owned and run small business, which now boasts over 37 years in the Industry.
Our clientele at the original Fiorucci`s Restaurant were from all over Perth, however there was a strong following of locals that became like an extended family to us. They mainly came from Bedford, Dianella, Bayswater, Bassendean, Inglewood, Embleton. Our unrelated Fiorucci community that was created was like a family to us and still is to this day. Some have even followed us and are regulars at the Bayswater Bowls for dinner.
When we decided to have a break and close the restaurant, our customers threw a farewell party where they presented us with a golden spoon award, which we still have, it still proudly hangs in our lounge today. Along with the golden spoon a beautiful poem written by the customers and that poem also hangs proudly with the spoon.
We went on a long awaited holiday and upon returning Guy and myself found positions in food production and Hospitality. We continued to cater for Functions and events, while working.
In October 2007 a proposal was made, we had a visit at home from a representative from Channel 7, who asked Guy and myself to take over and operate the Channel 7 Cafeteria at the Dianella station headquarters, after much continued convincing from the Channel 7 representative and others we decided to accept the offer.
In February 2008 we commenced operating the cafeteria at Channel 7 and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were there for 7 years at Channel 7 with our 7 Perth family until 2015 when Channel 7 moved to Osborne Park. And we are still in contact and see them to this day on a regular basis.
Recently we came across the Bayswater Bowling and Recreation club when we approached the club about hosting a fundraiser for a charity that we are involved in. We instantly fell in love with the friendly, warm and big hearted approach of the club. They bent over backwards to help facilitate our every need.
From that experience, Guy and myself enquired as to whether the club would look at letting us help them rebuild the club by offering our cooking services. The club graciously accepted our invitation and we are very happy to have returned to the Bayswater area, and especially at the Bayswater Bowling and Recreation club, another wonderful community full of spirit.
We are cooking at the Bayswater Bowling and Recreation now on Wednesdays. We have started Pasta nights which gets underway at 5.30 onwards and also Sundays where we offer an A La Carte menu and Roast lunch 12.00 noon until 7.00pm, so come down and say hello, have a chat ,it would be great to catch up have a drink or a Cappuccino.
